Title Screen

 
 We desided to make a title screen as all games have one so use uead the textures that JJ had made at the start of the porject and also uead the font that we where using for the game in the development stage.
 
 
Above is a close up of the planet the JJ made the texture in Photoshop we did not what to use the Hi defanition texture as we where conserned that the game would crach.
 
 
Above is the final screen that will be in the game the plant dose spin on and 360 degree rotation.

Robot AI ( Concept Art )

Well it seems there was a quick decision to choose what the AI robot should look like, but I'll upload the suggested final design of the AI.

Also another note, which is also another idea which I beleive should be implemented if posible, later on when we have the main basics down. Basicaly when the AI talks to the player while the player is far away from the AI and so radio communications are being used we can have a small thumbnail of the AI appearing on screen to the player and speaking to him/her. This is just an idea at this stage and if we have time it could be a basic thing to implement in the game later on.


In this one I thought I would add a background to this just to give it some form of place in the scene.

Planet & A.I ( Concept Art )

im not the best 2D guy but i though some consept art was nessisery as we are missing qite a bit, and it could be disastorus if we just jumped into this game without knowing what things need to look like even at a baic level, so hears some art you can have a look at. enjoy.

 


This is the Canyon consept art, the idea is that the corrotion of the river sawed away at the land for year and evenchaly it started to dry up due to sysmic activaty diverting the majoraty of warter elcewere, with fertile land left behind flora was capable to thrive, and with the small stream what resembles the last memory of the rivers gratness the flora is capable of sustaning itself in the envioment.

 

 
 These are the AI robots which are currently in the desing prosess, as you can see i am about to start working on one at the moment, this is by no meens a final result of work and it should be noted that this is still the planing prosess as the robots might not even be included in the game.


I thought it was also nessisery to start working on some alien treas, this is not a final result at an exampole of what has been done so far within a day (6 hours). i htought i would share it with evryone urly :)

that is all for the time being but more is on the way :D

Plants ( Concept Art )

Three plant designs
First one is based off a mangrove tree as the roots are pretty alien looking and are suited to a swampy environment would be found throughout the canyon.
The second is based off lily pads and the fruit is in the centre of the flower. Could double as a platform across water??
Third one is based off water reeds and the fruit is based off mushrooms. Would be found next to water.

Might do some more as needed, we could probably use some grassy plants, bushes, climbing plants (viney things?) etc??

I'll put up some preliminary sketches of what the A.I. should look like combining some of the images from above, JJ just let me know if you think its too much or if you want just use the concepts as a general guideline but model what you can produce best and upload images of every step just for Tutors sake and stuff you know the drill. ^.^ - Cat

1.5 As we has changed the story to fit it i desieded to re-design the pod so it will land parfictly on four legs as you can see below I the idea I had and how it will look in the air and when I has landed



2. Also in unity I will be finishing off and playing around with the terrain that I have already made and making it smaller as it is very big. (Below)

Storyboard and beginning scene image ( Research & Concept Art )

1: kids running (they are running towards the ship to board)

obviously the sounds we put to this will make everything come togethe i plan to have from 1 to 4 narrated with an advert style voice over, 'volunteer from around the world cant wait to board Midas (ships name________) for the opportunity of a lifetime to help discover the secrets of newly discovered planet __________ (i want to talk about the planet name tomorrow not about changing it but youll see what i mean when we discuss it?) and then it will start to fizzle nd crack and then there will be screaming and fire noises. i think this is better than trying to make a vector style advert (one because im no good with this ) and because i think dead spcae 3 had a great effect with its art style and that mixed with the contrasting sounds i think will explain our game? any comments would be a great help 


the art style im doing these guys on diffeent layers so i can animate it on after effects . 
 
Alistair: This video from Homeworld 2 shows I good crash of a ship at the start which I think we should use the same style as I think this was done in afteraffests with drawn images. The other video was done in the same why but I think these are good exarples of what we want to do.
 
 
 
Alistair: using the ideas above I made this clip of 30 seconds with the ship bracking up in the atmosphere of the planet it is basic but its the idea I had in my head.

This is the colony ship that Vesta had built to colonize other planets this is a colony built and designed by the Vesta Coronation this is one still under construction at Vesta Lunar Ship Yard.









Problem: At home when I was making this model in the four point view for some reason I could not see it in the top view and in the side view I could only see though the picture and if I moved it I would be unable to see it. and also some parts are unable to be seen like the gravity ring in the top view it can been seen but in the fount view it can not be seen.

Plants and Fungi Drawings (Concept Art & Research )

Over the weekend I have been working on researching different kinds of plants, and thinking of how we could try and use existing plants and change them up a little bit to fit in to our world.

As you have to eat plants to stay alive, I thought it would be a good idea to have them looking appetizing rather than noticeably weird and something that you wouldn't want to particularly eat.

Crashed Ship ( Concept Art & 3D Work )


Here is a cut though of the space ship that will be carrying the main character to the planet Dionysus I will upload more images of the ship. This is to show that part of the ship the character will live in and the part of the ship it was apart of before the crash.




Here I have made a detailed model of the part of the ship that the main character will be living in I have tried to make the model look like it has sheared off the ship and has rip beams in half and wires hanging off

HUD ( Concept Art )

Idea of how the screen might look and show information to the user. A hunger bar will be on the screen so the user can keep a check on it and whether they need to find food or continue exploring. We want to show health depletion through obscuring the screen in a similar way to how we will show the hallucinations only this will be done using red veins, blurred black around the edges of the screen etc.
Unity demo with a circular hunger metre. Decided against having random lines across the helmet as this would make the screen too cluttered with the hallucegenic effects from the plants and we would either have to run a script to remove it each time fruit is eaten or the effects would have to play over the top of the lines and this could cause complications.

as the dionysus is a greek god i thought that useing a tial pattan for the logo would go well with the game so i made a few designes with this idea im mind and also using a website i found http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/mosaic/mklarge.htm and made the three ones below.

 but this did not look futurestic so got a metal texture and Toop found a cool future text on
http://www.urbanfonts.com/fonts/Abduction.htm which i made the logo in the second up from the bottom left hand coner the final design is the bottom left hand coner.
